that you hear it from others. So we’ve enclosed below
a small selection of the feedback we have received
already this year from people we have worked with.
We hope our passion and attention
for detail shines through everything we do.
Dear Laura,
I am very happy to recommend that you include Richard O’Neill in the Reading is Fundamental directory. I am a class teacher at Ryton Park Primary School in Nottinghamshire, where we invited Richard to spend the day with our Year 3 & 4 pupils. He is one of the most professional, engaging, exciting and enjoyable storytellers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has a gentle character and had superb relationships with our pupils, who thoroughly enjoyed his visit. We are planning to work with Richard again.
Best wishes,
Brian Huxley

Thanks ever so much for coming to us - the childminders really appreciated it and are asking when you can come back again !
Will be in touch once I know what my budget allocation for 08-09 is !!!
We received your letter yesterday (I think there are copies of it flying all over the place!) The children were really pleased to hear from you and I am trying my best to procure some money from somewhere to do the creative writing!
I was talking to my boys and apparently the youngest one came out to help you with your horseshoe story – he kept telling me how good you were and I had to hear the story for myself.
Once again thank you so much for the letter and coming in to school.
You were great. All the best

Just a quick e-mail. £103.60 raised from the raffle. We will try hard with our SATS. We still have got cheesy grins on our faces. We thought the punctuation in your e-mail was purrfect. Have a mice weekend. Will write to you soon - we promise. Thanks for everything. P.S. We accept the 17p ransom for Mr Young. Hi Richard and Louise
Thank you so much for yesterday’s event, the feedback from the children as they left was wonderful. Every child I spoke to left inspired to write a story or complete the demise of ‘Gordon’! I will certainly not look at ginger cats in the same light. I really enjoyed listening to your stories and haven’t stopped talking since!
I’ll send you some of the photographs when I’ve downloaded them as a lasting memory of your trip to Essex. I hope you had a reasonable journey home.
Thank you once again for taking part in the Essex Book Festival and I hope to work with you again in the future.
Kind regards

Dear Richard and Louise
Thank you so much for yesterday, everyone I’ve spoken to loved it and has been inspired by the sessions. Please see email below from Jane at Chalvedon Secondary school. I’ll forward you any other feedback I receive. The sessions have enabled us to work with Travellers Education, the Essex Record Office, Surestart and all the schools involved which is fabulous. You are a brilliant storyteller and it was great to see the children’s faces and see how disappointed they were when you’d finished.
Thank you again and hoping we can work with you again in the future
Have a great Easter
Very best wishes
Sue and everyone else in Essex Libraries
PS. I hope Gordon wasn’t laying in the shadows waiting for your return!

Dear Sue,
Just a quick (but big) thank you for this morning. It was a wonderful session. The children really loved it. It was amazing to see them so engrossed – they barely moved!
I think the adults enjoyed themselves just as much as the children. The time seemed to fly by.
We send our warmest thanks and appreciation to Richard O’Neill for captivating us all so charmingly. We also want to thank the Travellers Association and Pitsea Library for organising and hosting the event. (We can’t wait for the next one…)
Best regards,
Jane Vachman Teacher of Literacy Chalvedon School
Hi Richard
Sorry I haven't been in touch before to say thank you soooo much for coming on the programme. You and your story were wonderful. All the very best, Lucinda
